Something that every class does every day in grades Prekindergarten to 5th is talk about the date and what day it is. Knowing the date, and the days of the week, and how many days are there in a month is something that adults take for granted, but can be very confusing for kids to learn and remember. Starting in Prekindergarten students learn the days of the week and the concepts of "yesterday" "tomorrow" and even what "weekends" are. In my Pre-K class sing the Days of the Week Song everyday so the kids can start to remember. Growing up, I learned the Knuckle Trick of using the knuckles and grooves in you hand to see how many days are in a month. There are a lot of tricks that students can use!
Here is a great worksheet I found on Education.com to help students practice understanding how to read a calendar and especially help with the tricky month of February! More to come, and thanks for reading!

I honestly never thought of this topic as being mathematical, but it makes a lot of sense. It helps children with number recognition and order. It also allows them to know how far away an event could be or how long ago one already happened. I enjoyed your resources and thought they were easy for teachers and parents to navigate to help their student better understand this topic.
